The person who prays opens himself to God speaking. Since a vocation to the priesthood is a personal call from Christ, the one who prays should strive for intimacy with God, a virtuous life and Holiness after the example of Christ. He should seek a way of living out his own baptismal call by giving service in the Church. Daily mass and Holy Communion, the reception of the sacrament of Penance, talking with other priests, obtaining a spiritual director are some other ways that help a man find his life, the life that Jesus has chosen for him.
The Diocese of Raleigh Vocations Office sponsors a priesthood discernment group that meets on the third Saturday monthly. The Priesthood Discernment Group provides a fraternal environment in which to discuss your discernment of a possible call to Priesthood with other men who are also examining the call. The group discusses issues central to the call and does so within the context of prayer, presentations, and discussion.
